STORY

County Club Sign

In 1988, Ray and Mary Garon opened the doors to what was then called The County Club, introducing the fast-paced game of squash to the area for the very first time. It was a bold move—one that went against the advice of consultants and common sense—but they believed in their vision. What began as a “crazy idea” quickly transformed into a vibrant hub where local farmers became squash players, and a community found a new space to move, connect, and grow.

For decades, the Club has stood strong, evolving with the times but never losing its soul. It has been a place where friendships have flourished, rivalries have formed, and generations have come to play, sweat, and laugh together. Today, you’ll find not only original members still swinging, but also their kids—and even grandkids—carrying on the tradition.

As one of Ray and Mary’s three daughters, this Club has been a constant in my life. I’ve grown up on these courts. I’ve poured my blood, sweat, and tears into this space—not just as a player, but as a coach, a cheerleader, and now, with great pride, as the new owner and operator.

Welcome to Beech Street Squash & Fitness—a name that reflects our roots and our future. I’m honoured to continue the legacy built by my parents and this incredible community. Here, we celebrate competition, courage, and camaraderie, every day.

Whether you're picking up a racquet for the first time or returning after years away, this is your Club.
Come grow with us.
